For a start romaine gem lettuce is a must for me.
The amount of yummy things you can do with a salad is amazing.
1) Tuna niscoise. Grab a small plate, add 2 large leaves of gem lettuce, sprinkle half a tin of tuna down them. add a boiled egg split in half. red onion chopped into circles, couple of new baby potatoes if you like. Add a low calorie dressing doesn’t really matter which one they all taste good! french dressing probably more appropriate. yumm..gobble it up.
Alter it by grilling some sea bass or mackerel.
2) Poached egg salad. grab some olives, capers beetroot and tomatoes and cut them up on the gem lettuce. Poach an egg and place on top add some olive oil. voila delightful
3) Tomatoes, cucumber, onion, peas and lemon on shredded gem lettuce. Such a lovely Indian salad.
All these ingredients can be mixed around, I’m not a chef i just love salads.
All the different veg is tasty, there’s relatively no calories and it’s always good to have in the fridge when your feeling hungry at times you shouldn’t. I’ve been on a weight loss routine at the moment and I’ve been trying to live on nothing but salad, and you know what it is possible. Salad/lettuce has become my substitute for bread and complex carbs. There’s like 15 calories in lettuce per plate. amazing!
Also I’d like to add that olives are great too, a natural vegetable that can be eaten in a small bowl with garlic, chili and a splash of olive oil. Very low calorie, very flavorsome and filling!
I’m currently on a diet which I was pointed to by a friend. It’s a free download from pimp-my-physique.com! It has helped re-program my brain to the ways of weight loss. I would recommend this to anyone who is struggling to keep the weight off.
P.S, there’s a diet plan of low calorie foods in there, every food is outlined as to whether it’s good or bad if that helps!
